January Devotions – Week 3

Gentle encouragement for quiet moments with God.

Day 1 – God Knows the Way Ahead

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.” — Psalm 37:23

Life often feels uncertain, especially when the path ahead is unclear. We may wonder if we are making the right decisions or heading in the right direction. In those moments, it helps to remember that God is not surprised by our journey.

Psalm 37 reminds us that God orders our steps. This does not mean every step will be easy or comfortable, but it does mean our lives are not random. God delights in guiding His people, even when progress feels slow.

Today, take comfort in knowing that God sees beyond what you can see. Trust Him with the steps you are taking now, and believe that He is faithfully leading you forward.

Lord, order my steps today. Help me trust Your guidance even when I cannot see the whole path. Amen.

Day 2 – God Is Near in Every Moment

“The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him.” — Psalm 145:18

There are times when God feels distant, especially during quiet or difficult seasons. Yet Scripture assures us that God is always near, attentive to those who call on Him. His presence does not depend on how we feel.

God draws close when we speak to Him honestly. We do not need perfect words or strong faith to reach Him. A simple prayer, spoken in sincerity, invites His nearness into our lives.

Today, remember that God is closer than you think. Call upon Him in the small moments, and rest in the assurance that He is listening.

Lord, thank You for being near. Help me remember Your presence throughout this day. Amen.

Day 3 – Trusting God in Small Things

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much.” — Luke 16:10

We often focus on big decisions and significant moments, believing they matter the most. Yet God also cares deeply about the small, ordinary parts of our lives. Faithfulness in little things shapes our hearts over time.

Jesus reminds us that consistency matters. Small acts of obedience, kindness, and trust may seem insignificant, but God sees their value. These moments quietly build a steady faith.

Today, offer the small things to God. Trust Him with the details of your day, knowing that nothing done in faith is ever wasted.

Lord, help me be faithful in the small things today. Use them to shape my heart and strengthen my trust in You. Amen.

Day 4 – God Is Our Source of Peace

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.” — John 14:27

Peace can feel hard to find when life is busy or uncertain. We often think peace comes only after problems are solved, but God offers peace that can settle the heart even while questions remain. His peace is not fragile or temporary.

Jesus speaks of His peace as a gift. It is different from the world’s peace, which depends on circumstances. God’s peace steadies our thoughts and calms our hearts as we stay close to Him.

Today, receive the peace God offers. Let it guard your heart and mind as you move through the day, trusting His steady presence.

Lord, fill my heart with Your peace today. Help me rest in You when worries arise. Amen.

Day 5 – God Is Faithful Through Change

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” — Hebrews 13:8

Change is a constant part of life. Seasons shift, plans change, and circumstances evolve. In the midst of change, it is natural to feel unsettled or uncertain.

Hebrews reminds us that while many things change, God does not. His character, promises, and love remain steady. This truth provides a firm foundation when everything else feels uncertain.

Today, anchor your heart in God’s faithfulness. Trust that He remains the same, even as life around you continues to change.

Lord, thank You for Your unchanging faithfulness. Help me trust You through every season. Amen.

Day 6 – God Gives Wisdom Generously

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God.” — James 1:5

There are moments when decisions feel overwhelming and clarity seems hard to find. We may hesitate, unsure of what choice to make or which direction to take. God understands our need for wisdom.

James encourages us to ask God for wisdom, trusting that He gives generously. Wisdom is not reserved for a few; it is available to all who seek God sincerely and humbly.

Today, bring your questions to God. Ask Him for wisdom, and trust that He will guide you with patience and care.

Lord, I ask for Your wisdom today. Guide my thoughts and decisions according to Your will. Amen.

Day 7 – Resting in God’s Care

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

As the week comes to a close, it is good to pause and release what we have been carrying. Worries, responsibilities, and concerns can quietly weigh us down if we hold them too tightly.

Scripture reminds us that God cares deeply for us. He invites us to place our burdens in His hands, not because they are unimportant, but because He is able to carry them.

Today, take a moment to rest. Release your cares to God and trust that He is watching over you with love and compassion.

Lord, I place my cares into Your hands. Help me rest in Your loving care today. Amen.
